The pager bombs aren’t landmines, they’re booby traps. Their use is regulated by the Convention on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons, specifically Protocol II, articles 3 and 7.
I seem to remember Trump being responsible for reforming the VA and allowing vets to go to outside sources when the VA couldn’t serve them in a timely way. He has a lot of problems, but he’s not anti-military.
Yeah he said a bunch of vaugley pro military stuff, but by making the size of the total force an issue it lead to the current problem of a large standing military nothing to do. The Obama era sequestration wasn’t the best way to go about the GWOT drawdown but it was something that the US has always done after major ground combat operations and was necessary to reset the force. It’s easier to maintain good order and discipline in a small force and during wartime you can expand it to the numbers required for the task at hand. He was bad for the military overall, but at least SECDEF Mattis got rid of some of the death by powerpoint garbage.
