Gordon is joined by Myles Poland (of “The Godcast”) to discuss his Sci-Fi project “Age of Ruin,” as well as independent media and the entertainment industry more broadly. The hurdles of self-published work, the problems of a collapsing and decaying culture, and how others might participate in this attempt at a shared high-quality Science Fiction universe. Gordon and Myles both have potty-mouths, so this episode is uncensored, listener discretion is advised.

I think people severely underestimate how detrimental the “nerd/jock” dichotomy was to culture. I think a large part of why publishing got so gay is because it became “unfashionable” to read, and thus write. Strong capable healthy men were taught “reading is for faggots” and limp wristed nerds. “Any pussy can read a book.” Add in the “free market of ideas” thinking that caused right leaning types to be purely profit motivated instead of willing to take a loss, even if just in the short term, in a way the left have always been. The left has always been willing to be patrons of their politics and that’s one part of how they took over.
There’s also this weird thing I seen time and time again of people on the right just never reading fiction? They have some weird principled position of just never reading fiction and not breaking that rule for any reason. Like with most things in life it’s about striking a healthy balance, fellas.
Yeah those are all really good points. I think the thing about Right-Wingers never reading fiction is because it’s more “serious” and “big brained” to say something like that, and on top of that, it’s a way to virtue signal about how you aren’t exposing yourself to the “literary jew” or whatever. It’s a feedback loop of attempting to look as based as possible by being as far removed from normal society as you can.
Excellent comment.
