In many ways Normandy is unremarkable, even its mascot, a Viking (an irony given its distinctively non-Scandinavian student body) is shared with at least 2 other schools in the area, but for a few years it was the locus of racial politics in Saint Louis, and a microcosm of the trend many of us are personally familiar with: failing Black schools and their consequences.
