What follows is an expansion upon a Telegram Post I made on February 2nd, 2022.
The seed of this article was a conversation with Nate Höss, the intern over at Ascending the Spectrum, and a friend of mine. He messaged me with an idea to get all of the Amerikaner content creators together, digitally or otherwise, to record a rendition of the famous Mannerbund Anthem, “By God We’ll Have Our Home Again.” While I’m not opposed to the idea in principle, in fact I would like to actually see it happen at some point, it got me thinking about the purpose of this network in the first place – to be a focal point for White Midwesterners, as well as White residents of “Flyover Country” generally. Amerikaners.
It is no secret that “these United States” are anything but. Even ignoring the current height of strife and internal division, racial and otherwise, there has always been regional and cultural, not to mention ethnic, differences between even American Whites. The Yankee-Dixian divide is the most well known, but anyone who’s travelled this country to any degree knows that that ancient (by American standards) feud is far from the only example.
I tend to rely on Colin Woodward’s American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America when I talk about this (full disclosure: I never read the book, but I listened to a podcast about it a few years ago, so close enough). He breaks America down into several different “Nations.” Obviously, it isn’t perfect since it doesn’t account for racial differences, but it’s a decent enough little map.
It has been my goal to serve up content relevant to the White inhabitants of The Midlands, The Far West, and the western portions of Yankeedom and Greater Appalachia. In our circles, there are already many groups dedicated to the Deep South, largely Neo-Confederates and Southern Separatists, not to mention the Texan secessionists. And, of course, The Right Stuff is known for having a heavy emphasis on, and hosts from, the eastern seaboard. The Southwest, the West Coast, and Cascadia all have their own things going on.
But the Midlands and the portions of the Far West east of the Rockies are a unique beast, and despite a history of deep resentment against the hostile elites in the decadent east, there has never been much a move, to my knowledge, to consolidate the breadbasket into a serious cultural contender.
There’s a lot of legitimate reasons why this hasn’t happened – population density and sheer size plays a major role. The man writing this is a son of the Dakota Territory, after all, I know just how hard it can be to organize anything out here. There is also the fact that, being one of the most German areas of the United States, there was a cultural genocide of the region during and after the second World War (as Otto Kilnler discussed in the Achtung! Amerikaner episode “Mittelwesten Über Alles” a couple of years ago).
So, this website has its work cut out for it in a lot of ways. We’re dealing with a population that is spread incredibly thin, demoralized and deracinated in a way that is only rivaled by the “Reconstruction” of the South, and that has a legacy of being desperate to prove “oh no, we aren’t like those dirty Kraut cousins of ours, we’re real Americans, we swear!”
On the other hand, this also means that we have nowhere to go but up – coming in on the ground floor, as it were. To bring things back to the start of this article, I think there is a lot that we can learn from The Mannerbund – as Nam described in one of Achtung’s most listened to episodes, the common conservative idea that the foundation of a society is the family is largely flawed. The foundation of a society is the Mannerbund (literally “Male Bond” in German, a Band of Brothers). The Warband. The men holding the spears against the beasts of the night – including the predators that walk on two legs.
The simplest, most accessible form of culture is the spoken word. Common stories and common songs are the foundation of a Mannerbund, just as the Mannerbund is the foundation of a society. This is why shared language is so important, and part of why the hostile, alien elite of this country speaks their own language in private, and floods our lands with foreign peoples and foreign tongues.
So, with that in mind, I put out the following call via the official Amerikaner Telegram (which you should be following if you aren’t already):
If anyone would be interested in writing up lyrics for an “Amerikaner Anthem,” please let me know. Ideally we’d set it to an already existing folk melody, i.e. Erika or an American tune.
The Original Post
If you look at the power the Mannerbund Anthem had, and how far it spread, nevermind all the great parody songs and original pieces our people have made, you know how much power a catchy tune can have for a movement.
This is also why I want people to submit more than just Podcasts to the network – obviously I love Podcasts, but we need art, music, poetry, literature, as well. If you make it, I will host it.
Since then, I’ve only had one submission, “So You Can Fly Right Over”, a great submission set to the tune of “Oh, I’m a Good Ol’ Rebel,” a classic Confederate song. And while it’s a very, very good submission that I’ve already found myself singing under my breath a few times, we could always use more.
So, consider this article a call to action. We need songs, we need stories, we need poems. We get thousands of visitors to this site, and I know our people have the talent to do so.
This map gets a little crazy in Texas. Lumping in central and north Texas to greater Appalachia is absurd. Not only does that part of TX have a distinct vernacular and cultural history , it also has like nothing in common with southern PA or WV. This map should put creole LA with the Deep South, and make Texas an independent nation.
Yeah it’s not perfect of course, but I think it’s meant to be a generalization. It’s like how there have been Germans in Russia, right? There will always be minority cultural enclaves inside of a larger nation.
YEAH ITS A PROBLEM WITH TRYING TO CHUNK OFF BIG CULTURAL SUPERREGIONS OUT OF A COMPLICATED LANDSCAPE
THERE ARE ENCLAVES (YOOPEE FINNS) AND THERE ARE CULTURAL CONTINUITIES/DISCONTINUITIES THAT ARE DICTATED NOT BY PROXIMITY BUT BY HISTORY
I WOULD NOT FOR EXAMPLE LUMP THE LAKES IN WITH NEW ENGLAND
NEW ENGLAND AND MARITIMES ARE CLOSER THAN NEW ENGLAND AND LAKES
AND LAKES ARE CULTURALLY CLOSER TO THE MIDLANDS THAT SURROUND THEM THAN TO THE EASTERN SEABOARD, WHAT WITH ALL THE GERMANS AND SCANDINAVIANS
OF ALL THESE MAPS I’VE SEEN A HUNDRED OF THEIR KIND AND NOT ONE OF THEM FELT RIGHT
GOTTA WORK WITH WHAT YOUVE GOT
Strap me to a rocket and fire me at New France. I am ready.
NO BULLY
Why in the hell am I in Yankeedom? I don’t even eat Sphagetti-Os.
