Minnesotan voters are, generally, a bunch of midwits. There is a strong “maverick” character to Minnesota politics, but aside from electing a former professional wrestler as governor of the state, this independent streak does not result in cool or entertaining outcomes. Instead, the end result is usually a spirited defense of the status quo, long after its other supporters have left the field.
With regards to Republican presidential politics, Minnesota has prided itself on ignoring which way the wind was blowing and lifting up some of the most obnoxiously hopeless candidates in a bid to prove their moral superiority to other states in the Midwest and in the country more broadly. In 2016, Minnesota was the one state to give the win to Marco Rubio before that political chameleon changed his colors to become a born-again Donald Trump supporter. This put Minnesota in the esteemed company of Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico.
In the 2016 general election, minor party candidates Gary Johnson, Jill Stein, and Evan McMullin pulled over 200,000 votes as Minnesotans recoiled from the prospect of having to pick a candidate who might actually win. If the voters who went for the Libertarian Johnson or the independent McMullin had gone for Donald Trump he would have won Minnesota in 2016.
The trouble is that Minnesotans, and Minnesota Republicans in particular, think that they are smarter than they actually are. In true midwit fashion, they will talk themselves into support for the most egregious of failures. They are the “beautiful losers” ridiculed by Sam Francis, who would rather die on their knees than live on their feet. In 2016 this meant voting for Marco Rubio, and in 2024 it means supporting Nikki Haley.
Nikki Haley is the perfect candidate for Minnesota, in that she is a Republican who wishes that she was not, and loathes the voters who she is supposed to be canvassing for support. Donald Trump’s threat to the Republican Party establishment lay in the fact that he was able to avoid the impression of looking down on his constituency, and actually empathize with their concerns. A rock-ribbed Republican is supposed to give some lip service about the flag and faith, when in practice ignoring their threatened voters to hobnob with the people who want to eliminate them and their way of life.
Nikki Haley is every inch the establishment Republican, not just in her support for war abroad and surrender at home, but also in her desperation to campaign for the vote of anyone but actual Republican voters. Appearances on Saturday Night Live and tweets “clapping back” at Donald Trump earn favorable press in establishment think pieces, but do not land with the voters who are needed to secure the Republican nomination, as seen as Haley’s embarrassing loss to “none of the above” in the Nevada presidential primary, where Donald Trump was not on the ballot. No one is buying what she is selling.
Well, except for Minnesotans.
Minnesota Republicans will flock to Nikki Haley as the embodiment of their own hopeless situation. She is their avatar, an unprincipled opportunist who still manages to lose. Like her supporters in the North Star State, Haley has decided that not only is there a mythical third option between the two leading candidates, but she is also egotistical enough to believe that she is the prophet that will lead the country to this imagined promised land. Like Evan McMullin, Haley will fail in a spectacular fashion, and just like with McMullin, Minnesota Republicans will be falling right along with her.
Haley is merely the latest manifestation of the old way of thinking that the Republican Party will have to adopt as partisan passions grow. The field of crossover voters is rapidly shrinking, and the Holy Grail of establishment Republicans, the suburban woman, will never vote GOP consistently as long as the reins of popular media and perception are in the hands of the inner party.
Haley and her supporters point to the existence of large percentages of Americans who describe themselves as “moderates,” and who describe themselves as “failing to identify with either party,” as proof that there is a constituency for her brand of “World War III but no mean tweets”. This is the same strategy advanced by “centrist” organizations like the No Labels third-party effort or the “Problem-Solvers Caucus” in the House of Representatives. But these ideologues of business as usual are ignorant, willfully in some cases, that there is not a sharp overlap between these “independents” and these “moderates.”
As readers will quickly understand, many of these independents are unsatisfied with the two major parties because they are already seen as too cozy with one another. For all of the whining done by “respectable” taste-makers, moderates are generally satisfied with the basic structure of American political corruption and horse-trading. It is the populists of the Left and the Right who are yearning for a meaningful alternative to the Democratic and Republican Parties, and they will not find it in Nikki Haley, Dean Phillips, or any of the other stalking horses for 2008-era neoliberalism that will be put up in the future.
Minnesota’s electorate, however, will continue to proceed less so from ignorance of how the world works, than in pride that it can ignore the changing world and be seen as “unique” and “interesting.” The whole state’s Republican apparatus is eager to be the “good Germans who opposed Hitler,” without knowing or caring about the fate which befell Germans left, right, or center after the war.
They will continue to praise themselves and their principles without caring that no one is listening anymore, if they ever did.
“….point to the existence of large percentages of Americans who describe themselves as “moderates,” and who describe themselves as “failing to identify with either party,” (Grant Norman)
It seems as if there is some rest of basic instinct left…
that neither BIDEN (“Democrat” – NO positive record in any respect, very much to the contrary / would NOT be criminally charged because he would NOT be found guilty due to NOT being mentally competent) nor TRUMP (“Republican” – a self-proclaimed 1000% Zionist / a Zionist CANNOT BE an American patriot/nationalist at the same time – It’s impossible! And Trump has already proven the fact during his first term) is in fact an eligible candidate. Neither of them is part of the solution (to the massive problems long waiting to be solved). They are both part of the (ZOG) problem (not talked about). A sound (subconscious) realization for the “Maverick” Minnesotans to make… basically.
However – as THERE IS NO CHOICE left in a system which is totally rigged, a circus of distraction from reality… The Zionist Jews in power keep pushing their agendas further, and it is totally irrelevant which “goy” puppet is finally allowed to play the role of “US president” – Nothing changes to the better, as the Jews stay in charge.
And most Americans stay asleep, more or less wilfully ignorant of the truth – worst case: could not care less…
and otally frustrated, confused and blind-folded “voters” become desperate… resulting in a totally irrational behavior (not only of “suburban women”) such as the support for Nikki Haley… or whatever outlandish “candidate” – More or less consciously such voters “know deep down” that they are losers in such a system, and backing up the loser position shows who they are identifying with… it shows resignation: “I don’t approve – I am out of here!” … Their votes do not count anyways, or do they?
It is race to the bottom.
Most frightening for the rest of the world:
The ZOG demon-possessed U.S. are dragging everyone else down into the abyss – WW3 madness – Totally insane.
