In this week’s episode, Super and Myles roll out our listener-requested, off-topic content: Coffee and Donuts. We talk about how grunge killed metal. SuperLutheran torpedoes Rapture theology in the second half. We’ve since gotten plenty of emails (thank you, dear listeners!), so we’ll have an email segment on the next regular show.

Great episode, gentlemen.
Anyone who says 80’s hair metal is “less serious” and “more silly” than grunge needs to compare hair metal band names & lyrics to 90’s alternative band names and lyrics. There were a lot of 90’s bands that seemed to be in a competition with one another to see who could be more nonsensical with their lyrics and image. So many Nirvana lyrics are just total nonsense.
Of course these lyrics are over analyzed and “decoded” by the hipsters of today.
At least we knew exactly what motley crew was talking about- cocaine, motorcycles and lady parts.
Also a band that wasn’t mentioned (understandably because they weren’t necessarily “grunge”) is smashing pumpkins. They were more energetic, more psychedelic, and more experimental than the majority of popular bands at the time. Although everything after Mellon collie was cringey edgelord garbage for the most part.
One little factoid is the influence of the smithereens on alot of these bands, esp the song Blood and Roses which directly influenced the sound of Nevermind.
Yo, Gnosticism and people leaving the faith a lot in the “dissident right” deep-dive when ?
Also, aren’t monks just NEET’s but living of the church funds.
They both do die without kids and with very little impact on “society” at the bottom line
I haven’t heard of too many people leaving the faith within the dissident right. If you know something, please, let us know. Being a monk * is* the job of a monk, so they’d check the first E just fine. Depending on the order, monks do a lot of stuff. I think a lot of them these days do networking and IT stuff.
Grunge didn’t kill metal
At the end of the day, the record companies killed metal.
