In today’s episode, we look at the newest (but not really new) apologetic argument from internet paganism, which boils down to “PWNing the Christians by denying FACTS and LOGIC.”

“I do funny voices sometimes” is not an excuse for reading things that you disagree with in a mocking tone, while alleging that you are dealing in good faith. This sort of thing reeks of insincerity or worse hypocrisy. It’s very scummy behavior.
So this website claims it’s totally gonna BTFO my faith, and it’s so desperate to do so that it attempts to undercut objective truth by instituting a different form of epistemological relativism – SOLELY for the purpose of pwning the Christians.
Were you expecting me to respond by rolling out the red carpet for them?
SuperLutheran, there’s nothing new/different about this argument that the Imperium press guys are making. They’ve literally just reinvented orthopraxy and written an article about it because Christians go argue with them (thanks for linking the article btw). Ancient pagan religions were orthoprax; this is not controversial: https://acoup.blog/2019/10/25/collections-practical-polytheism-part-i-knowledge/. For reference about how not new these ideas are, I took a religious studies class in college that successfully argued Apes and Elephants have orthoprax religion (take notes, effective mockery is funny).
I expect two things of our guys, Lutheran. One that they argue effectively because I want us to win. Two that they exercise self-control and resist the temptation to infight until after we’ve won (for the same reason). Anything is better than repeating back the other guy’s words in a funny voice for these two things. It is THE worst debate tactic. It is THE most antagonistic way to argue. This would be a much better podcast if you kept your head, or even just spoken with honest, righteous anger. Anger is sometimes less effective than staying calm but can also sometimes de-escalate conflict by relating a breach of norms.
