The Godcast, Episode 310: Conflagration at the Declaration Inflation Station

Posted on December 22, 2024December 22, 2024 by Godcast

In this week’s Godcast, SuperLutheran reviews the chaotic flood of affirmations and denials that have been puked out onto the internet by various church authorities who don’t like /ourguys/ very much. We AFFIRM that this declarationflation is BAD. We DENY that it is GOOD.

There is an audio version of Luther’s 95 Theses https://www.luther.de/en/95thesen.html
that’s 17MIN40SEC long (for those of you who faint at the sight of font).

If it takes 60% to pass, how many congregants of Lutheran persuasion can name 57 Theses? Or, if a violation of just 1 of the 10 Commandments bars you from that grand celestial gated subdivision membership, are there any Lutherans who regularly keep up with all 95?

Luther had a beef with Holy Roman See over indulgences. The Inquisition could not convict him of any heresies, so he was not asked to recant. But instead of focusing on the ill-advice of Jewsus (I am referring to “resist ye not evil”), Reverend Luther successfully splintered the flock and it started from there.

Maybe I am petty. Maybe for the Lutherans it is not about 95 Theses from +400 years ago. Maybe now, the thing is to flood the landscape with non-Caucasians and affirming elderly lesbians in positions of leadership.

Tempora mutantur, et nos mutamur in illis.
