For this week’s episode Super plays nice with Fr. Jacob, a Roman Catholic priest, to get his perspective on the current turbulent state of Catholicism and the kind of perspectives Catholics should have in the current age.
NOTE: Some audio quality was messed up in the first hour. Our apologies, Jacob was having some technical issues but had a tight schedule. We couldn’t re-record the segment so screw it WE’RE DOING IT LIVE, 2018 STYLE.

That was a good episode and I have a constructive question for both of you ordained, licensed clergymen:
Please define the appeal of Jesus Christ.
I am asking for a pitch, like you would explain it to the polite stranger on a plane seat next to you.
Can you tell me what is the attraction to Jesus Christ, what is the wisdom and worth of being the follower.
No, I am not rude, mad or trolling. It is not a trick question. You said yourself, Super Lutheran, in the episode 250216_DontLickThePhrog.mp3, time stamp 00:59:00.
“This is incredibly, incredibly important. If somebody cannot describe their ideology by writing it down on a three by five card, it is not worth listening to”.
You have made the moral lessons of Jesus Christ the pillar of your life, and your career.
May I please read that 3×5″ index card, thank you.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for your salvation. If you want salvation, you only get it through Christ.
Is that succinct enough?
Pretty much. No other religion makes the offer that Christ is making, no religious figure is as historically attested as Christ, and His commandments actually make sense, as opposed to the voluntary suicide of buddhism, the involuntary suicide of hindooism, or the absolute drivel nonsense ethics one finds in islam or judaism or any other religion.
I have slept on it. I wrote it down on the back of the business card and carried it around and read it each time I fueled up, shopped, did chores.
My next step will be to try it on a living tissue (strangers and non-strangers) and parse the results.
OF COURSE you do not have to do my bidding, but it would be great if you repeated that exact phrase many times.
“Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for your salvation. If you want salvation, you only get it through Christ.”
Who are we kidding, Americans do not read. Ain’t nobody got time fo’ dat, yo. But succinctness of the compact verse makes it so much easier.
It is my wish which will never come true, that Christians would read the source material. For the majority of them, that does not even seem important.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for your salvation. If you want salvation, you only get it through Christ.
We can all agree that sending Jesus to straighten up the moral state of humanity was a radical departure from the previous tactic (global submersion for 150 days, with a big wooden escape pod for the selected forewarned few and a pair of every sort of critters for seed).
2,000 years since the New Testament events only a tiny proportion of the humanity has availed themselves of the offer.
We are facing 2 options, if my mind is still lucid: Jesus will return at opportune moment (in the fullness of time), or something else will be tried given that the souls still need saving.
Ray Wray is not Father Jacob. I am Ray Wray. In any event, thank you Father for coming on this show. SuperLuther was rather sour and passive aggressive at the end when he said “at least your a priest who preaches Jesus Christ and not Mary.” Oh brother! Hate to break it to you: Catholics are all about God, the Holy Ghost and the Blessed Virgin Mary!
I wish Super would of asked you (Father Jacob) about your thoughts on white nationalism and racism.
Super, I’m sorry I thought you were Crossing the Tiber. Thanks for clearing that up in this episode. Prayers to all my brothers in Christ. Good Saint Joseph, pray for us!
