I am not SuperLutheran’s spokescritter or legal advisor but I think your diagnosis might be a little too “over-eyelined”.
Super’s not a bad guy. Business is kinda slow though, but very crowded. You gotta stand out somehow, raise the dander, appear like you have a message. Does not The Scripture say “for if the trumpet is weak, who shall prepare for the battle?”
I rather like to listen to Super’s mellifluous tenor on long drives through vast open nothingness of BFE ‘Murka.
The man puts a lot of torque for a minuscule traction.
My “biggest beef” with Super is not what he says about Catholicism (or pretty much anything else).
It is the contradiction in his model (occassionally mentioned, but never tacitly admitted).
In one of the old eps, Super says “Susie goes to church because her son has a meth problem”.
And the church attendance, time&tithes spent will address the meth issue (or maybe not this year), BUT ONLY if it is the right kind of Church, exact proper translation made 1,400 years after Yeshua’s adventures in faraway magic land, and IT WOULD HELP VERY GREATLY if the sermon does talk about the most obscure cults and sects from 500 years ago. To an audience who would struggle with naming 5 countries in the Middle East.
Obscure topics = Great Expertise = Much, Much Smartness = You Can’t Go Wrong looks like the diagram here.

For it came to pass, there is no need to be critical about what we already accepted, for it is truly good in the eyes of The Lord (of Hosts and Everything Else). And by the same token, what we already rejected needs no examination either for it is false, and also evil.
